HUTB Teachers Achieve Good Results in Fifth National Teaching Contest of Young Teachers at Universities and Colleges

From October 27 to 29, the final of Fifth National Teaching Contest of Young Teachers at Universities and Colleges, sponsored by ACFTU(All-China Federation of Trade Unions), was held in Nanjing University, and 162 contestants from 31 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps competed with each other. Deng Xin from HUTB School of Finance took part in the Contest on behalf of Hunan Province and won the third national prizein the category of liberal arts. This was the first time that a teacher from HUTB had attended the national highest-level teaching contest, fully demonstrating our teachers’ outstanding spiritual outlook of being committed to teaching and forging ahead with determination.

HUTB paid high attention to the Teaching Contest of Young Teachers; from selecting candidates to perfecting courses, from setting the organization committee to building the expert review panel, from participating in the provincial contest to attending the national contest, under the direct instruction of the university leaders, Academic Affairs Division, Alumni Office and School of Finance attached great importance to and gave energetic support to the Contest.The awardshould be shared byallhard-working groupsand individuals.
The National Teaching Contest of Young Teachers at Universities and Colleges is held biennially and has been held for five times. The Contest this year was composed of five categories, namely: liberal arts, science, engineering, medicine, and ideological and political courses, and included teaching design, classroom teaching, and teaching reflection. Every contestantprepared teaching plans and presentations for 20 episodes and gave the lecture ofone episode selected in the contest. At the end of the classroom teaching section, candidates entered in a designated classroom, and reflected on the teaching episode and wrote a teaching reflection essay with around 500 words. The Contest upholds the concept of “givingevery high-quality class” to train the young teachers’ basic skills, strengthens the improvementof morality and styles of teachers as the focus, promotes teaching, stimulates young teachers to update their teaching philosophies and to introduce and master advanced teaching methods, aimingto build a high-quality and professional young teacher team with ideal and faith, morality, solid knowledge and heart of benevolence andto accelerate thedevelopment of China’s higher education undertaking.
