HUTB Students Achieve Good Results in the 12th National Advertising Art Design Competition for College Students of 2020

In the 12thNational Advertising Art Design Competition for College Students of 2020 jointly sponsored by the Department of Higher Education of Ministry of Education (MOE), the Teaching Steering Subcommittee of Journalism and Communication in Higher Education Institutions of Ministry of Education (MOE), and the Special Committee of Advertising Education of China’s Association of Higher Education (CAHE), Hunan University of Technology and Business (HUTB) achieved good results with new breakthroughs in award quantity and level: 2 pieces of works won the second prize and 1 piece the third prize in the national final; and 2 pieces won the first prize, 3 pieces the second prize, 2 pieces the third prize, and 3 pieces the outstanding prize in Hunan Division.

The National Advertising Art Design Competition for College Students is the first-class competition identified by China’s Association of Higher Education (CAHE), the A-class discipline competition event, and one of the most important national competitions for liberal studies; it features social resource integration and takes true marketing programs of enterprises as topics to enhance students’ practical abilities. Senior experts and scholars from the academic community and relevant industries, and corporate executives are invited as professional review panel to appraise works, and the appraised works are publicized online in order to avoid plagiarism and constantly increase the public trust in the competition. It is known that 535,982 pieces of works have been received from 1,582 HEIs and technical collages with 1.12 million person times, increased by over 130,000 pieces of works, and 30,589 pieces of works were selected for national review finals.

HUTB valued the competition preparation works by making careful organization, overcoming difficulties and innovating the preparation mechanism; as students cannot return to campuses, instructors actively made publicity and instructed students to form teams and prepare for the competition online, took full advantage of information-based teaching methods and approaches to coach and communicate with students online for 24 hours a day, and helped solve technical issues and practical difficulties in a timely manner.

The School of Art and Design always focuses on competitions, promotes teaching, learning and practice via competitions, introduces the competitions to classroom, and connects practical courses of art-related majors to the competitions thoroughly, and this fully mobilizes teachers and students to attend the competitions; students enhance their creativity thinking and teachers test teaching effects through competitions, realizing the benign development between teaching and learning. For the past recent years, the teaching faculty of the School of Art and Design have been instructing students to actively attend domestic and international major professional competitions, such as the National Advertising Art Design Competition for College Students, China Advertising Association (CAA) Institute Award,Times Young Creative Awards, One Show Awards, the Inter-University Annual Environmental Design Award of China, etc., and won 500 prizes in China Advertising Association (CAA) Institute Award,including the Grand Award, “Excellent Contribution Award” and “Education Promotion Award” of AD Campus, and is hailed as “HUTB phenomenon” by the academic world and industry insiders.
