Secretary Tang Yayang Attends 2020 Global Smart Education Conference and Delivers Keynote Speech

The 2020 Global Smart Education Conference was held at Beijing Normal University from August 20 to 22. Themed at “Artificial Intelligence and Future Education”, this conference included 12 special forums. 4 academicians and 75 keynote speakers from 21 countries were invited to this conference. Tang Yayang, Secretary of Party Committee of HUTB, attended the conference as invited. He served as Co-Chair of the forum of“Development of Smart Villages and Smart Society” and delivered a report with the theme of “Building a Solid Educational Foundation for Smart Villages”.

Combining HUTB’s actual practices in poverty alleviation, Secretary Tang Yayang systematically described the future of smart villages under the guiding strategy of rural revitalization and the “overall strategy of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation” and amid “the major changes unseen in a century”. He compared smart villages with smart tourism, digital villages, and smart cities, and analyzed the key factors of promoting the development of smart villages from hardware, software, humans, environments and other aspects. Consequently, he pointed out that education plays an inseparable and irreplaceable role in the construction of smart villages. Finally, he concluded that the modern education for smart villages should be promoted with coordinated efforts from the five aspects, namely, the concepts, contents, methods, teams and environments of education. He held, “If smart villages are likened to a building in a rural field, education is the foundation of this building.” He called on people to work together on caring about the education modernization in rural areas and building a solid educational foundation for the building of smart villages. After Secretary Tang’s keynote report, Professor Ying Ruoping, the First-Level Inspector of the Department of Education of Hunan Province, Suleeporn Bunbongkarn Hhoopavang, Director of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Thai Royal Foundation, and other experts shared their views on the issues related to rural education online and on the site.
According to reports, this Global Smart Education Conference was approved by the Ministry of Education, hosted by Beijing Normal University, and co-organized by the UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education, the National Engineering Laboratory of Internet Education Smart Technology and Application and other institutions. This conference was held both online and offline. It was globally live streamed through media like Xinhuanet and Xuetang Online, with over 3 million views online.
