Taking 2020 graduate employment as the biggest political task at present, Hunan University of Technology and Business (HUTB) mobilized all of its staff to work together on ensuring stability in employment and security in job. During this process, this university adopted new measures, fostered new opportunities, opened new horizons, and achieved remarkable results. As of July 3, 3,621 of HUTB’s 4171 fresh graduates were employed, with a total employment rate of 86.81%, slightly higher than the same period of last year.

I. HUTB leaders highly valued graduate employment and personally implemented relevant measures. HUTB established the university-level and school-level leading groups to coordinate graduates’ employment and entrepreneurship and to highlight top management commitment. During the epidemic prevention and control period, despite numerous difficulties, HUTB leaders held many employment promotion conferences, on-site work meetings, and discussions with employers and graduates to make surveys, listen to suggestions, formulate policies, and solve problems. The leadership rolled out such documents as the Implementation Plan for 2020 Graduate Employment During Epidemic Period, the Scheme of “100-Day Action for Employment” of 2020 Graduates, and the Temporary Provisions on Graduate Employment; the leadership introduced many promotion measures, like“deeming graduates' success in employment as meeting the standards for quality development credit”, and provided strong and all-round manpower, material, and financial support. While attending the “Two Sessions” in Beijing, President & Academician Chen Xiaohong frequently held video conferences on graduate employment, emphasizing that “the whole university should work together and make every effort to help graduates smoothly find jobs”; she personally contacted company representatives attending the “Two Sessions”to recommend HUTB graduates; she also actively invited Sany, TRS and other well-known enterprises in Hunan to come to HUTB for recruitment.

II. All faculty and staff worked together to promote graduate employment HUTB’s secondary schools set their employment promotion plans based on actual situations and student needs. These schools took every possible measure and mobilized all faculty and staff, ranging from the leaders of schools, departments, and divisions to tutors, class advisors, instructors, and course teachers, to actively and responsibly implement the plans. These schools fully integrated high-quality resources from students, parents, teachers, alumni, employers and other aspects to build various employment service platforms, like unemployed student groups, parent groups, alumni groups, “one-to-one” pairing assistance groups, and industry and enterprise groups. HUTB schools adopted the “man-to-man” tactics and continuously took novel and original measures to recommend jobs and promote graduate employment on all fronts. With a 100% participation rate, the faculty and staff of HUTB’s 12 secondary schools formed a good atmosphere of“total involvement in and common concern for graduate employment promotion”.

III. HUTB elaborately organized online and offline job fairs. Since this February, HUTB has worked together with Zhaopin.com, Yunyan Technology and other online recruitment platforms to launch over 30 online job fairs and career talks themed “fighting the epidemic and ensuring stability in employment” as well as professional and specialized recruitment fairs organized by its secondary schools. As of June 30, 1,879 enterprises attended the online job fairs, demanding a total of 104,192 people for 6,528 jobs, with a supply-demand ratio of 26.6:1. In early June, as the first batch of seniors returned to school after the extended holiday due to the epidemic, HUTB organized the first offline job fair among the universities in Hunan, with a wide range of employers invited to attend. Then, HUTB consecutively held another 8 offline recruitment activities, with 199 companies offering demands of 4082 people for 536 positions. HUTB also invited Rennengda, Beisen Career, Shanghai Qiaobu Jianli and other famous professional institutions as well as senior Hrs to give 5 live streamed career guidance lectures to its “one-to-one” assistance partner, Hubei Business College. In the meantime, to meet graduates’ personalized needs, HUTB arranged special personnel to provide customized employment guidance and consultation daily through telephone, WeChat, online appointments and other means; HUTB fully utilized the 24365 platform launched by the Ministry of Education to keep providing graduates with employment guidance and recommendation.

IV. HUTB highlighted key points, provided specific guidance, and implemented targeted measures. After comprehensively checking the graduates’ employment status, HUTB’s secondary schools set daily records on the details of unemployed graduates with classified and dynamic management. The schools classified unemployed graduates according to their employment willingness, analyzed and studied the key points in the classification results, and gave specific guidance to each graduate, highlight the key points. For the registered impoverished students, the students from Hubei, the students planning to further their education abroad, the students with learning difficulties, these schools provided targeted employment education and guidance, focusing on motivating them to adjust their ideas and expectations on employment. Meanwhile, HUTB did a good job in accurately pushing employment information, recommending employment positions, and providing employment services. It focused on the registered impoverished students and the students from Hubei, providing them with all-round employment services to ensure their success in finding jobs. So far, HUTB has achieved a 100% employment rate for Hubeinese graduates, and a 90% employment rate for registered impoverished graduates.

V. Multiple functional departments worked together for synergy HUTB’s Enrollment and Employment Guidance Division acted as an overall planner, and other functional departments fully cooperated with each other to “ensure stability in employment”and “security in job”. For example, the Academic Affairs Division timely introduced measures like “linking the recognition of graduates’ innovation and entrepreneurship credits with employment”; the Student Affairs Division and the Apartment Center actively mobilized unemployed graduates to return to school to find jobs; the Logistics Service Division, the Assets Division, the Security Division, and other divisions guaranteed the venues, sanitation, security, and epidemic prevention and control for the offline job fairs. The Organization Department mobilized all the Party branches and Party members to actively play the role of exemplary vanguard in ensuring graduate employment; the Publicity Department made every effort to publicize the information on employment policies and activities as well as online and offline job fairs; the Discipline Inspection Commission supervised the whole process of secondary schools’ graduate employment promotion. All departments of HUTB worked together to contribute to graduates’ success in finding jobs, thus forming an unprecedented total involvement atmosphere where “all the staff actively talked about graduate employment and recommended jobs to help graduates get employed”.
