HUTB Shares Typical Experience at Symposium on Curriculum Ideological and Political Building in Higher Education Institutions in Hunan

On June 18, a symposium on the curriculum ideological and political buildingin higher education institutions in Hunan was held in Hunan Department of Education. This symposium was attended by Jiang Changzhong, Secretary of the Leading Party Group and Director of Hunan Department of Education, and Secretary of the Education Committee of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, and Zuo Qing, Second-Level Inspector of Hunan Department of Education. The attendees from Hunan University of Technology and Business (HUTB) included Liu Guoquan, Vice President of HUTB, and Shi Bo, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages as the representatives of vicepresidents in charge of teaching, deans of secondary schools and teachers in some universities and higher vocational schools (higher technical schools)in Hunan.
At the meeting, for experience exchange, Shi Bo, Deputy Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of HUTB, gave a speech on behalf of the teachers of undergraduates. Shi Bo explained HUTB’s efforts in deepening the teaching reform of ideological and political curriculum, constructing the talent cultivation modes of ideological and political curriculum in professional and general courses, and improving the quality monitoring on curriculum ideological and political teaching. She also shared her experience in how to carry out good ideological and political education as a front-line teacher: First, the teachers must hold the firm talent cultivation concept and hold lofty ideals, integrity, knowledge and a strong sense of discipline; second, the teachers should tap ideological and political elements and organically integrate them into the classroom; third, the teachers should optimize the curriculum setting and match the national development strategy; fourth, the teachersshould reform the teaching method and enrich the presentation mode of information. She also put forward countermeasures and suggestions for the curriculum ideological and political teaching.
The purpose of this symposium is to thoroughly implement the principles of relevant documents and meeting of the Ministry of Education, to survey the development of curriculum ideological and political teaching in the universities in Hunan, and to further study and arrange the curriculum ideological and political buildingin the universities in Hunan. In accordance with the notice of the Ministry of Education on the Guidance Outline for Curriculum Ideological and Political Buildingin Higher Education Institutions, in the next step, Hunan province will continue to focus on developing the models of curriculum ideological and political teaching. Hunan Province will select a batch of universities leading the curriculum ideological and political building, a batch of demonstration courses regarding the curriculum ideological and political building, and a batch of teaching teams and famous teachers, Hunan Province will build a batch of demonstration centers for curriculum ideological and political teaching, establish a batch of research projects of curriculum ideological and political building, thussettinga benchmark for curriculum ideological and political teaching across the country. HUTB will seize the opportunity to continuously deepen the buildingand reform of curriculum ideological and political teaching and to improve the quality of talent training.
