The Online Defense of the 2020 Undergraduate Thesis Was Officially Launched in HUTB

During the epidemic, the Academic Affairs Divisionorganized more than 4,000 undergraduate students 2020 to participate in online thesis defense in strict accordance with the principle of “Quality of thesis will not be lowered and graduation time will not be delayed”. Each secondary schoolmakes full use of modern information technology to realize online guidance and quality control tograduation thesis. The Modern Education Technology Center,Logistics Service Divisionand other departments cooperate fully to ensure the smooth progress of online thesis defense.
In order to ensure the quality of graduation thesis, HUTBrequires all secondary schoolsto strictly manage the process of topic selection, topic opening, mid-term checking, thesis evaluation, review and defense, etc. through online, and to improve the internal quality assurance mechanism of graduation thesis. The instructors maintain close contact with students through online methods and strengthen the process management of graduation thesis through remote guidance and supervision to ensure progress and quality. All graduation papers need to be tested before defense. Papers with a total copy ratio of more than 30% are deemed to have failed the test. Graduation papers that fail to pass the checkmust be revised and applied for re-check, which shall be reviewed and approved by the instructor and summarized by the schooland submitted to the Academic Affairs Divisionfor review and reference. Only after the re-checkpassedcan they participate in the defense. The school will further strengthen the management of academic integrity and strictly prohibit illegal acts such as copying, plagiarism and writing on behalf of others.If above behaviors were found,they will be dealt with severely according to HUTBdiscipline and rules.
The online graduation thesis defense has changed in theform, but the standardization and seriousness of the defense will not change. The organization of online defense is mainly based on the “three responsibilities": first, itshould be highly responsible for education and teaching to ensure the quality of graduation thesis is not lowered; Second, itshould be highly responsible for students and minimize the impact of the epidemic on students' studies and graduation. Third, itshould be highly responsible to HUTB, We shall obey the overall situation of epidemic prevention and control, and ensure the safety of teachers and students. For students who are about to reply, it is suggested that the schoolsshould prepare the network environment needed for the reply, communicate more with their tutors, finish their graduation thesis with high quality, and achieve the same quality online and offline.
