The Third Overseas Higher Education Seminar of "the 13th Five-year Plan" Was Successfully Completed

On Aug. 5, twenty-six people from the Third Overseas Higher Education Seminar of "the 13thFive-year Plan" returned to the university after successful completion of the study.
During the 15-day study, the students carried out the multidirectional and in-depth study and discussion on the leadership and management of higher education, university teaching management and service, university faculty management, construction and evaluation of undergraduate major courses, application of modern education technology in teaching and research, university discipline and academic integrity construction, university student innovation and entrepreneurship education, evaluation of university education quality, scientific research direction development and project management, graduate research and teaching, university-enterprise cooperation and multiple cooperation modes, as well as academic exchange and international cooperation of universities, etc. From the macro perspective of the development pattern of global higher education to the micro issues of the teaching and scientific research talent cultivation, and from the frontier theory of higher education development to the specific practice of higher education management, 26 students in the seminar showed great enthusiasm for learning, listened carefully, thought actively, and put forward a series of questions on the university teaching management, innovation and entrepreneurship education, construction of teaching staff, campus culture construction and business major construction, as well as transformation of scientific research achievements. The discussion between teachers and students was heated and the classroom atmosphere was active.
After the class, members in the seminar visited the campuses of the universities and communicated with teachers and students in various ways. From George Mason University, a new and vigorous university with innovative spirit, to Princeton University, Yale University and Columbia University, the world-renowned Ivy League Schools with historical and humanistic atmosphere; from West Point, a military school holding the most strategic position with the school motto of "Responsibility, Honor and State", to New York University and The City University of New York, universities in Manhattan, New York, students further clarified the ideas and directions in teaching, scientific research and management in the future by comparing differences of development history, campus management and cultural construction of Sino-US higher education in the field investigation.
With the strong support of university leaders and the active organization of Personnel Department, International Exchange Office and other relevant departments, the third overseas (America) senior education students of "the 13thFive-year Plan" broadened their horizons and updated their ideas, and would actively learn from the successful practices of world famous universities in higher education, and promote and improve our major construction and education and teaching management level, to help the university build "Double First-rate" and "internationalization".
