Our University Won Good Results in the Provincial Classroom Teaching Competition

On Oct. 27, the final match of 2018 classroom teaching competition of teachers of regular colleges and universities of Hunan Province was held in Changsha University of Science and Technology. Teacher Luo Manyi from School of Economics and Trade and Teacher Dai Ji from Centre for Mental Health Education of student Affairs Office won the first prize of the art group and the honorary title of "Teaching Experts of Regular Colleges and Universities of Hunan Province", Teacher Song Wei from School of Design won the second prize of the art group. Meanwhile, our University was awarded with "Outstanding Organization Award".
This contest was jointly sponsored by Education Department and Education Labor Union of Hunan Province and undertaken by Hunan Provinceial Research Institute of Education. It was divided into three steps, namely, campus preliminary contest, provincial network semi-final and on-site final, aiming to further implement the fundamental task of strengthening the moral education and cultivating people, effectively promoting the classroom teaching effect and fully playing the role of the educational function of the curriculum. A total of 229 teachers from 52 regular colleges and universities of the whole province participated in the semi-final of the art group, science group and engineering group. Upon the online evaluation of the experts, 67 teachers entered into the on-site final.
In Apr. this year, Education Department and Education Labor Union of Hunan Province jointly issued the Notice on Holding 2018 Classroom Teaching Competition of Teachers of Regular Colleges and Universities of Hunan Province. The University attached great importance to this work and immediately set up the organization committee of the classroom teaching competition. Office of Academic Affairs and Labor Union jointly organized and conducted the preliminary contest in campus, and selected 5 contestants to participate in the provincial semi-final. Subsequently, they organized relevant colleges to conduct the comment lecture and provide guidance on evaluation of classroom teaching for 5 contestants to continuously improve their level of classroom teaching.
This contest built an exchange platform for the teaching experts of colleges and universities in the province, and accumulated experience for further improving the education and teaching ability of teachers of our University. The University will continue to insist on the fundamental task of strengthening moral education and cultivating people, adhere to the mission of "four regressions" of higher education in the new era, strengthen the ideological and political theory teaching in all courses and majors, eliminate "meaningless courses" and create the "valuable courses", comprehensively improve the quality of undergraduate education and lay a solid foundation for the "three promotions" and "double first-rates" of the University.
