The Second Overseas Advanced Education Training Class during "The 13th Five-Year Plan" has been Successfully Completed

The Second Overseas (United States) Advanced Education Training Class during "The Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" has been successfully completed, and 18 members of the training class returned to the University on the evening of Aug. 26. All students have successfully completed their studies and obtained certificates.
During the 15-day training, students of the training class successively visited University of California, Riverside, University of California, Los Angeles, California Institute of Technology, George Mason University, Columbia University, City University of New York, Yale University, West Points and other world-famous universities, and conducted multi-aspect and deep study and discussion on higher education leadership and management, university teaching management and service, management of teaching staff in universities, undergraduate major course construction and evaluation, the application of modern education technology in teaching and scientific research, College discipline and academic integrity construction, innovation and entrepreneurship education for college students, quality evaluation of college education, development of the scientific research direction and management of scientific research project, scientific research and teaching for postgraduates, cooperation in running schools between colleges and enterprises and its multiple cooperation mode and college academic exchanges and international cooperation.
After the class, members of the training class visited the campuses of the universities and communicated with teachers and students in various ways. In California Institute of Technology, they looked at the small building for Einstein to rest with reverence, and explored the footprints of Chinese scientists, such as Qian Xuesen, Qian Weichang, Zhou Peiyuan and Guo Yonghuai; In Yale University, they visited ancient buildings with a strong historical and cultural flavor and the church style library; they walked into West Point and were shocked by the soul of soldiers who shoulder the country, honor, and duty; They read and recited the school motto of Columbia University of "Seeing our light from your light", and listened to the world-famous professor proudly say that "Though California Institute of Technology is small in scale, it is doing the most profound thing", and felt the strong love and pride in the work and career that the busy and dedicated professors and staff are engaged in. Through a series of activities, members of the training class were moved, inspired and motivated.
The members of the overseas advanced education training class mainly consisted of persons in charge of the discipline (direction) team and professional construction. During the study, all members actively overcome difficulties, such as, they didn't adapt to the foreign life, strictly abided by the discipline of foreign affairs, seriously participated in the study of the training class, listened to the class according to the questions, and thought about the discipline and professional construction by combining with the development requirements of the University. In addition, they also made a lot of study notes. Through the study and communication, all members effectively broadened their horizons, and personally experienced and understood the advanced experience of world-famous universities in discipline and professional construction, as well as management of colleges and universities. As required, the students submitted the personal study visit summary, and held a special report meeting with the secondary college/discipline (direction) team and professional construction team as the unit to share the study achievement and discuss the construction and reform development ideas of the discipline (major), and submitted new ideas and measures for the discipline (direction) construction and professional construction.
Under the strong support of leaders of the University, and the active organization of Personnel Department, Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and other relevant departments, the Second Overseas Advanced Education Training Class during "The Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" was completed successfully. Teachers have effectively broadened their horizons, updated their concepts, and will actively learn from the successful practices of world-famous universities in higher education, and promote and improve their levels in the professional construction and education and teaching management. This will effectively promote the process of teaching staff of our University to construct the "double first-rates" and "internationalization", and assist in realizing the "three promotions" of the University.
