HNUC was Selected as One of the First Batch Demonstration Colleges and Universities for Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform

Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Education officially issued the Notice on the List of the First Batch Demonstration Colleges and Universities for Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform (JGT Doc. [2017] No. 3), which approved 99 colleges and universities including Peking University and Tsinghua University as “the first batch demonstration colleges and universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in China”. In Hunan Province, only four colleges and universities including Central South University, Hunan University, Xiangtan University and our university won the award.
In order to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education in colleges and universities, and earnestly enhance the innovation spirit, entrepreneurial consciousness and innovation and entrepreneurial ability of the university students, the Ministry of Education launched the work to identify the first batch demonstration colleges and universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in November 2016. This assessment was carried out from nine aspects, i.e. the top design, management mechanism, curriculum construction, teaching method reform, practice training, teaching management, faculty, financial security and featured demonstration. The process is as follows: each college or university declares independently, then the Provincial Department of Education selects the better ones from the 20 odd undergraduate colleges and universities which have made declaration; after that, Ministry of Education will organize experts to audit and approve the demonstration colleges and universities recommended by each area.
Our university attaches great importance to college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship. Led by the Office of Academic Affairs, with the joint efforts from Entrepreneurship Education and Practice Teaching Center, Student Affairs Office, Enrollment and Employment Office, Communist Youth League, School Alumni Office, and other departments, the Innovation and Entrepreneurial Collaboration Mechanism was established, which firmly combined innovation and entrepreneurship work with school-running characteristics and serving local economic and social development. An innovation and entrepreneurship education model with its own school-running characteristics has been formed, which integrates “curriculum, experiment (training), competition, nurturing and incubation”. It has facilitated the organic integration of professional education with innovation and entrepreneurship education, provided innovation and entrepreneurship education throughout the entire process of personnel training, and achieved great success in innovation and entrepreneurship.
The University will take the opportunity of being selected as one of "the first batch demonstration colleges and universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform" to further promote innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, improve the innovation and entrepreneurship education management system, enrich innovation and entrepreneurship education resources, continuously improve the quality of personnel training, and contribute to the "Three Promotions" and "Two First-rates" initiative.
