On the afternoon of November 10, our university held the seminar about construction strategy of economic management discipline and degree program at meeting room 401 of Office Building 2. Professor Chen Guoqing - director of Academic Committee of School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, EMC chair professor, national outstanding youth and Cheung Kong scholar; professor Jia Jianmin - director of Market Department of Business School of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, honorary dean of School of Economics and Management of Southwest Jiaotong University, national outstanding youth and Cheung Kong scholar; professor Li Xinchun - original dean of School of Management of Sun Yat-sen University and Cheung Kong scholar; professor Mao Jiye - dean of Business School of Renmin University of China, national outstanding youth and Cheung Kong scholar; professor Zhang Yuli - dean of of Business School of Nankai University and Cheung Kong scholar; professor Tan Yuejin - executive deputy director of Division of Social Studies of National University of Defense Technology, technical major general, vice chairman of Society of Management Science and Engineering of China; professor Su Jun - director of Center for Science, Technology & Education Policy of Tsinghua University, director of Tsinghua University Think Tank Center (Preparatory) and Cheung Kong scholar; Mr. Chen Zhiqiang - president of Better Life Commercial Chain Share Co., Ltd. and other great men in the academic and business circles gathered in our university for offering advice and suggestions regarding economic management discipline and degree program. President Chen Xiaohong, vice-presidents Peng Jinqing, Wang Minggao, Zeng Fuqiu, Li Dingjun, Liu Guoquan and Yang Liangqi - member of the party committee and director of Office of Party and Government Affairs attended it. Principals of scientific research office, graduate school, Dean's Office, department of personnel, development planning department, international exchange department, entrepreneurship education and practical teaching center and each affiliated colleges attended it. The conference was presided over by vice-president Wang Minggao.
President Chen Xiaohong gave a welcoming speech at the conference for thanking and warmly welcoming all experts, scholars and entrepreneurs to come to our university for guidance. She briefly introduced school-running history, general development situation, talent cultivation, teaching staff, scientific research and discipline construction, degree program building, etc. of our university. She pointed out that our university had paid attention to connotative development in recent years, so the talent cultivation quality was continuously improved and high level of graduate employment rate had been kept; The discipline characteristic was distinctive and scientific research level was increased substantially; Local economic and social development was served and positive contributions were made for enriching people and strengthening province with good social benefit and economic benefit brought about. Our university put forward the strategic development goal of "three improvements", and was striding forward "double first-class" building direction which treated the application as guiding and gave priority to economic management. President Chen hoped that all experts, scholars and entrepreneur could offer advice and suggestions for driving our university to better and faster develop.

In the stage of experts making a statement, all great men in academic and business circles actively offered advice and suggestions and opened new visions for talent team construction, scientific research, discipline and degree program building, etc. based on the altitude of development strategy, profound scholarly cultivation and rich practical experience and by combining domestic and overseas higher education development rule and frontier questions.
Professor Chen Guoqing deemed that "three improvements" was the milestone for the university. He hoped that our university preserved characteristics, didn't follow the crowd or echo what others have said and could strengthen discipline construction. And he said that it's necessary for talent team construction to pay attention to overseas training and cultivating teacher upon cooperation with overseas colleges and universities could be conducted. Professor Jia Jianmin put forward that the target could be formulated by different level for scientific research and talent introduction，and establishment of some experiment classes could be tried for talent cultivation. Professor Li Xinchun proposed to determine right positioning and that scientific research should be featured instead of blossoming everywhere, it's necessary to attach the importance to upgrading teaching quality, and teachers may be hired from an enterprise. Professor Mao Jiye thought that "three improvements" target was the core of future university development, and for this purpose, national level project and national level talents were necessary as well as it's necessary to be aimed at Hunan Province and serve local economic development. He suggested that our university should set corresponding system, reinforce "large formation warfare" and the ambitious target could be realized. In terms of talent cultivation, try inter-disciplinary cooperation and invite enterprises to participate. He introduced method and experience with respect to introduction of foreign knowledge, encouraging talents, etc. of Business School of Renmin University of China. Professor Zhang Yuli considered that "three improvements" of our university could refer to "Pareto principle", being first-class means diversity and it's necessary to attach importance to building a good educational environment. Professor Tan Yuejin thought that our university had a clear positioning and distinctive feature; talent team construction (especially talent introduction) needed to find breakthrough, and rapid growth of new talents could be actively guided by applying for high level project, formulating incentive policy, etc. President Chen Zhiqiang said that the enterprise hoped to cooperate with our university to cultivate applied talents and strengthen the depth and breadth of university-industry cooperation.
President Chen Xiaohong thanked all experts and scholars offering valuable opinions and suggestions for our university's development in the summary speech, and she said that our university would adopt and fuse these good suggestions in the future construction and development, and hoped that all experts and scholars could pay more attention to and support university's construction and development in the future work.
