President Chen Xiaohong Made Academic Speech for Postgraduates

On the afternoon of September 27, president Chen Xiaohong made the academic speech of "Postgraduate Dissertation Topic Creation, SCI, SSCI Magazine and International Academic Conference" for our university's postgraduates in the Lecture Hall of Library. The deputy deans of cultivation units who took charge of postgraduate works, postgraduate directors, head teacher of postgraduate, the instructors of winning postgraduates who participated in the Provincial Discipline Competition, responsible persons of related schools and all postgraduates were attended it, which was presided over by Zhou Xiancheng, the dean of Postgraduate School.
The lecture focused on the following four aspects, namely, Dissertation Topic and Creation, SCI and SSCI Index-included Journals Conference Discipline Range, International Journals Ranking about Different Disciplines of Economic and Management Science, and Academic Dissertation Writing for the International Conference. Starting from "what is scientific problem", the president Chen Xiaohong analyzed and explained the four basic factors of scientific problem one by one, namely, the connotations of novelty, frontier, innovation and normalization. She thought an excellent researcher shall not only hold the rigorous theoretical foundation, but also have keen intuition for the real world; A favorable research shall reflect the new social development trends, probable hotspots and leading edge of the discipline. She pointed out that postgraduates shall follow the several steps if they wanted to write qualified dissertation and make excellent research: First, consult the classic literatures and consider the inadequacy of previous studies as the starting point of your research; Second, seize the worthy research topic on the basis of originality, practicability, rationality and feasibility; Third, select the suitable and innovative research methods and tools; Fourth, focus on innovative point expression and demonstration to write the dissertation; Fifth, put the dissertation in the research team for discussion after writing dissertation, accept the query from different perspectives, then, make further perfection and demonstration. When referring to how postgraduates write an academic dissertation, she took several examples to explain the basic framework of an academic dissertation and the key points of every part, list the common problems in the opening report and capstone presentation, as well as put forward the suggestions about avoiding these problems. After that, she introduced the high-quality domestic and foreign journal publication requirements and the main journals name, and encouraged postgraduates to focus on the stable research direction, devote themselves to scientific research, write the high-quality dissertation and actively submit thesis to the high-level journals. During the lecture, the president Chen also made an introduction of the main international academic conferences and indexes, then, encouraged postgraduates to write dissertations with enthusiasm and participate in the high-level academic communication.
In order to make the participating teachers and students know the basic methods and quality as required by making academic research, she caught several key word problems of topic selection and dissertation writing during scientific research. Finally, she required all postgraduates: First, make in-depth and systematic learning and cultivate the systematic thought; Second, focus on reading and thinking, grasp research methods and tools solidly, and combine theoretical research with empirical research and case research; Third, participate in academic communication, expand horizons, set up high ambition and form high-level pattern.
