Holding 2016 Freshmen Opening Ceremony Ceremoniously of Our University

On the morning of September 12, 2016 Freshmen Opening Ceremonies were held in the gymnasium and athletic field of south and north campus of our university respectively. The university leaders, the first-grade honorary professor Liu Siwei, all responsible persons of affiliated colleges and functional departments, teachers, parents and all 2016 freshmen attended the opening ceremony, which was presided over by the vice-president Zeng Fuqiu.
The senior students' representative made a statement expressing their welcome to 2016 freshmen, hoped that all freshmen can learn to fight hard and know how to be grateful, as well as wished all freshmen can enjoy the upward, forward, authentic and optimistic four-year university life after all teachers and students singing the national anthem,. The undergraduate freshmen' representative looked forward to the four-year university life and hoped that they can come across and make them better in such university, where is full of positive energy and advocates the freedom. Finally, they wished HNUC will become more beautiful. The 2016 master degree freshmen resumed their indissoluble bond with HNUC with the re-departure determination, made a clear planning for their incoming postgraduate life, as well as expressed their best wishes to the classmates, teachers and the university.
After that, the teachers' representative Wang Juan shared studying experience with all freshmen in once character of student in HNUC. She hoped that all freshmen can develop honesty habits, keep promise, study diligently and make intellectual enquiries. She sincerely promised that she was willing to serve as the guide for students on behalf of the teaching staff, lead them to appreciate the university ideology and campus beauty, and open the new life journey.
Mrs. Tang Gaiying and Wang Zhifei, the parent of freshman from School of Computer and Engineering and School of Business Administration respectively, expressed their gratitude for the university and teaching staff on behalf of all parents. They congratulated freshmen to make efforts to be admitted to the university, reminded freshmen to grow continuously in this new environment with the identity of parents. They also urged all freshmen to become a person who was useful for the country and society.
In the end, the president Chen Xiaohong made an ebullient speech and expressed welcome to all freshmen and parents on behalf of all teaching staff and students. Then, she simply introduced the basic conditions and school-running characteristics of the university. In the face of the new freshmen who were admitted by the HNUC with dreams, the president Chen hoped that all students can know themselves, interests, hobbies, personhood concept and behavioral norms in the university before stepping into society; besides, know the world, reconstruct the world and learn how to coexist with nature and society; inherit the accumulative knowledge of human beings, especially, master the lifelong learning method and cultivate the attainment and ability, which can make one person become more valuable; make themselves become better and accumulate the increasing affection.
She wished all freshmen can realize the following three hopes: "show high ideals and have sincere behavior", "study hard and keep on thinking", and "be self-disciplined and positive". In her opinion, numerous cases had completely indicated that showing high ideals shall be held before making success and creating brilliant achievements, namely, the fighters shall have a dream, faith and responsibility; in summary, the success and dream realization in tomorrow can't be separated from the efforts and endeavors today. Concretely speaking, in order to realize dreams and make contributions to society, all students shall focus on the original intention and many small targets to make down-to-earth action, such as, stay true to the mission and "show high ideals and have sincere behavior". She hoped that all students shall refuse to become the exquisite egoists and indifferent egoists, instead of looking at the world with saintly heart, making soul walk with footsteps, capturing life orientation, enriching dream, gaining available energy, reviving soul, letting soul fly and igniting faith.
She said that students were in urgent need of courage to embrace and adapt to changes in such information explosive, rapidly changing and constantly shifty era. As the proverb goes, "God rewards the diligent" and "there is no difficulty if you are diligent enough", students have no choice but to continuously and perpetually study for the sake of keeping pace with the time steps. She put forward "study hard and keep on thinking" with the main purpose of hoping students to be diligent, be quick at thinking, find good interest, learn to choose, look for the truth, be innovative, "make your brain full of knowledge first, and then make your pocket full of money"; Besides, cultivate critical thinking and discrimination ability, expand rational spirit, foster independent personality, activate new thought, create new paradigm and establish new theory to seek for "truth, innovation, factualism, goodness, estheticism" persistently.
She emphasized that the self-discipline was the required course in life, especially, in university. A good university shall have beautiful scenery as well as good atmosphere. Only good atmosphere can cultivate excellent talents with good character. Mentality decides horizon, horizon decides life pattern, and life pattern decides destiny, the person who is confident and sunny will certainly enjoy brilliant life. According to the "be self-disciplined and positive", she hoped that all students shall be your own master. Don't be "smartphone addict", "Phone Freak" or "video game addict", read more classical works and don't read box news; Spend more time to participate in collective activity and club activity, and don't indulge in illusion of virtual world; Cultivate more scientific methods, just attitude and manful determination, and don't waste life in current games and having fun. Don't cheat on an examination, say goodbye to sluttery and indolence, don't allow making trouble out of nothing, talebearing, selfishness or rascality by cultivating self-discipline ability. Strive to develop a habit with diligence and excellence, stand upright forever in facing hardships and setbacks!
And she was affectionate when she talked about her feelings during these two working years in HNUC. She said that she had considered the university as her home, meanwhile, we will also insist on "for all students and all for students" concept to build the more beautiful university. She encouraged the new freshmen can inherit and develop the spirits of HNUC, write and create its new future together, as well as make preparations to go ahead and stand in the stage center by right of sticking out their chest, seeking for excellence, holding confidence and daring to become pioneers!
On the opening ceremony, 2016 freshmen made a pledge sincerely: Let excellence and diligence become a kind of habit!
