Our University Ceremoniously Holding and Celebrating 2016 Teachers' Day and Commendation Conference

On the afternoon of September 6, our university ceremoniously held and celebrated 2016 Teachers' Day and Commendation Conference in the Multifunctional Lecture Hall of Library. All leaders, commending personnel, department-level and above cadres, provincial Party representatives, NPC and CPPCC representatives at all levels, democratic parties representatives, school professors, department directors, teaching staff representatives who came from institutions, teaching auxiliary departments and subordinate units, retiree representatives, schoolfellow representatives and student representatives enjoyed a happy get-together to celebrate the 32th Teachers' Day. The conference was presided over by the vice-president Peng Jinqing.

The Conference began with the national anthem. The vice-president Liu Guoquan announced Teaching-oriented Commendation Decision and prize winner list. Xia Jichun, the deputy secretary of Party Committee, read out Science & Technology Commendation Decision and prize winner list, Excellent Teachers Award Funds Commendation Decision as well as the related prize winner list.

After that, the participating leaders presented awards to the winners of 2016 Prominent Teachers of HNUC, 2016 Excellent Teachers of HNUC, 2015 "My Favorite Teachers" of HNUC, Eleventh Hunan Province Higher Education Provincial-level Education Achievement Prize, Hunan Twelfth Social Science Outstanding Achievement Prize and Commercial Development Research Achievement Prize issued by Ministry of Commerce. Mr. Ning Songkai, the founder of "Award Fund for Thanking Excellent Teachers" presented awards to the 13 winners and made an ebullient speech.

The student representatives sang "After Growing Up, I Become You" and presented flowers to the award-winning teachers for expressing their benediction and gratitude feeling to teachers during Teachers' Day. The schoolfellow representative graduated in 1996 who came from Guangong Class made a soulful bow to teachers on the stage and expressed their nostalgic feeling for alma mater and respect for their teachers. On the spot, warm applause arose time and time again to reflect the affectionate love between them.

The professors Liu Siwei and Liu Chang'e made the award acceptance speech as prize-winning representatives to express their sincere feelings for the university and educational career, the strong sense of pride, responsibility and mission as a teacher. Finally, they shared their teaching experience and research results, followed by indicating that they will stay true to the mission and move forward continuously.

The president Chen Xiaohong made a speech on the stage to greet all teaching staff, and gave a high evaluation and fully affirmation for their contributions about university construction, reform and development. After that, she looked back the main achievements of the university in the first half year, made the specific arrangement for the key works and put forward clear requirements in the new semester. She emphasized that, first of all, spare no pains to realize "Double First-rate" construction targets, find the accurate direction and strive for the best in the corresponding type and levels according to the school-running foundation, strength and characteristics of our university. Our province is comprehensively promoting first-class university and discipline construction, leading and supporting colleges and universities to make classified development, misplaced development and characteristic development now. Therefore, we shall grasp the development opportunity to make more disciplines enter in the provincial-level major disciplines and utilize discipline construction to drive specialty construction, teaching team construction, scientific research and talent cultivation. Besides, the "13th Five-year Plan" of every unit shall be perfected after combining with "Double First-rate" construction. Secondly, make academic research with great concentration and indomitable spirits, scale the new heights to realize mutual improvement and common growth without ignoring teaching and scientific research, and strive to make a bigger breakthrough in the project of national natural science, social science, enterprise cooperation, innovation, think tank construction and other aspects. Finally, all teaching staff shall take the prize-winning comrades as an example to strive to be an excellent teacher, who had ideal and faith, moral sentiments, solid knowledge foundation and kindheartedness heart. The teachers can cultivate more outstanding students who know appreciation, hold rich knowledge, start up business and dare to take responsibility with the distinctive characteristics about HNUC by right of their lofty ethics and profound knowledge in this way. She hoped that all teaching staff can strictly abide by disciplines, stand united, forge ahead with determination, cherish their posts and devote wholeheartedly to work to promote the university work to a new height.

Tang Yayang, the secretary of the Party Committee, extended his warmest greetings and high respects for all teaching staff, who worked on the frontline of teaching, management and service for talent cultivation for a long term. He said that the teachers who accepted the commendation were only excellent representatives in outstanding teacher groups of our university. From them, we can feel their meticulous care and attention for students, selfless contributions to our university and tireless pursuit of educational career. Secretary Tang put forward to utilize "original point thinking" to deeply consider the problems of "what is university, what is teacher, what is student and what is schoolfellow". He thought that talent cultivation shall be the primary and most fundamental function in the university, therefore, the university was still a place where noble, and self-restraint and graceful students were cultivated to deliver the positive energy. The university teachers shall integrate personality charm and academic charm, because the excellent teachers shall cultivate, stimulate and spread love by right of their loving hearts, in summary, devote their warmness and feelings to every student. Students were considered as the value carrier for university and teachers, the subject for inheriting, innovating and spreading knowledge, the carrier for university culture and spirit, the constructor and successor of socialism with Chinese characteristics as well as the future and hope of our country and nation. The schoolfellow was considered as the expanded campus of alma mater, because the social evaluation about schoolfellow was equal to the final social evaluation about alma mater, therefore, the schoolfellow resources were the valuable intangible resources and the important growth points for the sustainable development of the university. He emphasized that the starting of "13th Five-year Plan" was a non-optional and non-retreated "13th Five-year Plan" for our university. In the face of the numerous expectations of all members in HNUC, all teachers and students shall keep their faith, overcome all difficulties, get force and energy together and make voluntary contributions for realizing "three improvements" target.
