HNUC Held the Working Conference on Scientific Research & Education for Innovation and Startup

On the afternoon of April 19th, the working conference on scientific research & education for innovation and startup was held in the Multifunctional Lecturing Hall in Hunan University of Commerce. Superior leaders, university leaders and president Fu Shenglong from Dahan Group attended the conference. Party Committee Secretary Tang Yayang addressed a speech and President Chen Xiaohong made a work report, with Vice President Liu Guoquan presiding over the conference.
Tang Yayang spoke highly of the school’s achievements in reform and development in his speech and made an account of how to innovate school systems and mechanism and how to facilitate the coordinated development among industry, university and research by combining the newly issued “Implementation Suggestions for Deepening the Education Reform in University Innovation and Startup”. Tang pointed out that to innovate requires creative talents, who are often fostered from creative education; research innovation activities and education on innovation and startup constitute two important approaches for the cultivation and production of talented people, two of which are correlated and complementary with and to each other, and also are contributive to the school’s development. Tang requires that all school members, be they teachers or students, should take this conference as an opportunity and devote themselves to scientific researches and education reform on innovation and startup, so that greater and newer contribution can be made for the whole society.
Vice president Wang Minggao delivered read “Decision on Honoring 2014-2015 Outstanding People, Institutions and Achievements of Scientific Research and Management” and “Decision on Honoring Outstanding People of Scientific Research”. Leaders at all levels in presence presented awards to those outstanding individuals and institutions amid aroused melody and warm applause.
President Fu Shenglong from Dahan Group, as the cooperation representative of the school’s innovation and startup, also gave a speech, in which he introduced Danhan Group and its development path in innovation as well as reviewed the origin of the excellent cooperation between the company and the school. Mr. Fu, in particular, explained the revolutionary impact that the “Internet Plus” has made on Chinese enterprises’ development and hoped that both the school and the company can use it as a chance to enhance communication and cooperation so as to bring the school’s education on innovation and startup to a new high.
President Chen Xiaohong gave her work report, making a summary of the past year’s work and arrangements for the coming year about the scientific research and education of innovation and startup.
As for the scientific research, President Chen pointed out that our university has gained noticeable achievements in the scientific research and disciplinary construction, which is mainly manifested by the following six aspects. Firstly, disciplinary construction for Master Degree offering has been pressed ahead effectively. Secondly, construction of key disciplines has further developed. Thirdle, quality of scientific research fruits has been improved substantially. Fourthly, management mechanism for scientific research has been further perfected and formalized. Fifthly, we have involved in a growing number of academic activities. Sixthly, we have been more competent in serving the social and economic development.
President Chen then made four arrangements for work in the next stage. First, we should make every endeavor to build “Gaofeng” (“Pinnacle”) and “Gaoyuan” (“Altiplano”) disciplines; second, we should strive to achieve high-end scientific fruits; third, great efforts should be made to facilitate the school’s links with social services; third, we should improve management efficiency with mechanism reform.
As for the education of innovation and startup, Mrs. Chen pointed out that our school has gained substantial results in innovation and startup in recent years, which can be proved by the following five points. First, we have basically completed hierarchical progressive courses for innovation and startup; second, practice platform for innovation and startup education has been continually improved; third, multi-driven educational activities for innovation and startup have become various; fourth, students are more spirited and qualified in innovation and startup; fifth, our work in innovation and startup have been widely recognized.
President Chen stressed that our school still has great potential for developing education of innovation and startup considering the social demand for innovative and startup talents and the requirement for high-level economic universities. Therefore, we should attach more importance to this education by perfecting the education’s course modules, reforming teaching approaches and examination methods, strengthening practice, optimizing teaching management institution, reinforcing teachers’ capacity building, improving guidance service for students’ startup, putting more investment in startup education and enhance the leadership of education of innovation and startup.
The conference issued the “Plan for the Innovation Driven Development in Hunan University of Commerce”, and leaders in present unveiled the nameplate of our newly established maker space.
