2023-11-21
Recently, the list of outstanding projects for the 2nd "Furong Students · Rural Revitalization" Public Welfare Program, hosted by the China Youth Development Foundation, the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, and China Tobacco Hunan Industrial Co., Ltd., was officially announced. HUTB's Huixiangcun Science and Innovation Education Practice Team and the HUTB Youth For Love Volunteer Service Team were honored as outstanding projects, and HUTB received the "Best Organization Award".
Since its launch in June of this year, the 2nd "Furong Students · Rural Revitalization" Public Welfare Program has attracted 535 project applications from 41 universities. In the end, 120 public welfare teams were granted funding and went to 120 villages throughout Hunan to carry out a diverse range of public welfare practices.

The Huixiangcun Science and Innovation Education Practice Team promotes the implementation of science and innovation education in rural areas, stimulates the endogenous driving force for rural revitalization, through the basic path of "popular science + innovation" and the promotion model of "innovation classroom + teacher training + club construction". In July of this year, the team went to Longwanghu Village in Guzhang County, Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture, to carry out a 10-day "Furong Students · Rural Revitalization" public welfare practice. They organized activities such as science and innovation education, industrial design, and sunshine companionship programs, contributing youthful energy to the local realization of "education for the young, income for the working, and care for the elderly". According to statistics, the Huixiangcun team has visited 15 schools, with a total service time exceeding 140 hours, conducting more than 150 science and innovation popularization activities, benefiting over 3,000 students. The team has been reported a total of 84 times by mainstream media such as xuexi.cn, Hunan Today, and voc.com.cn, achieving positive social feedback. Through practical actions, they embody the volunteer spirit of "dedication, friendship, mutual assistance, and progress", and interpret the sense of responsibility of HUTB students through their hard work.

The HUTB Youth For Love Volunteer Service Team promotes rural education and cultural construction, and enhances the happiness and satisfaction of villagers through various forms, perspectives, and projects. In July of this year, the team went to Hongshilin Town, Guzhang County, Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture for a 13-day "Furong Students · Rural Revitalization" public welfare practice. They organized activities including summer teaching support, wall painting, cultural tourism video shooting, visits and condolences, and immersive Party history lectures. They addressed the urgent needs of the local community, and contributed their efforts to the industrial development of Zuolongxia Village and Kebuche Village in Hongshilin Town, helping promote rural revitalization.
According to statistics, the team benefited over 50 students and more than 2,000 villagers during the summer, covering one town and two villages. They have been reported multiple times by mainstream media such as xuexi.cn, WeChat Official Account of HUTB Communist Youth League, Youth.cn, Hunan Today, and Rednet.cn, with a cumulative reading count of over 600,000. The team has produced and distributed 17 promotional videos and 3 rural cultural tourism videos, with a total view count of over 400,000, generating a strong social impact.
The recognition of being an outstanding project in the "Furong Students · Rural Revitalization" public welfare program is a true portrayal of HUTB’s outstanding students actively responding to the call made by Academician Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, during the launch ceremony of the 2023 Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program" social practice activity, which emphasized "answering the 'essential questions of the times' in social practice, honing the 'versatile skills' in grassroots service, and blossoming as the 'flower of HUTB' in the garden of the times". It will undoubtedly inspire more HUTB youth to hone their willpower through practical actions and open a new chapter of serving the "rural revitalization" with youth and sweat.
