Sub-forum on "Translation·Language·Regional Intelligent Integration and International Communication" of the 18th Hunan Postgraduate Innovation Forum Held

On December 6, the Sub-forum on "Translation·Language·Regional Intelligent Integration and International Communication" of the 18th Hunan Postgraduate Innovation Forum, sponsored by the Academic Degrees Committee of the People's Government of Hunan Province and the Department of Education of Hunan Province and hosted by HUTB, was held. The forum collected 177 papers from 61 universities nationwide. A large number of scholars and postgraduates gathered at HUTB to discuss the academic frontiers of foreign languages. Liu Mengqing, Second-level Researcher of the Degree Management and Postgraduate Education Division of the Department of Education of Hunan Province, and Hou Junjun, Member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, attended the opening ceremony. Relevant responsible people, teachers and student representatives from the Graduate School and the School of Foreign Languages participated in the event. The opening ceremony was hosted by Wen Lanfang, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages.
In his speech, Hou Junjun traced the origin of the university's cultural heritage, introduced its school-running characteristics, and encouraged young students to balance physical and mental well-being and forge ahead steadily. Liu Mengqing pointed out that foreign language talents must integrate interdisciplinary perspectives and serve national strategies. Zhang Yang, Vice Dean of the Graduate School, announced the list of award winners. A total of 53 participants including Pan Yameng from Northwestern Polytechnical University, Liang Jiawei from Xiangtan University and Zhao Shanshan from HUTB were awarded the Excellent Paper Award.
During the keynote speech session, Professor Li Qingping from Central South University delivered a speech themed "Politics as the Core, Academics as the Foundation – How to Tell Chinese Stories Well in English", sharing ideas and methods for disseminating Chinese voices in English. Professor Cao Bo from Hunan Normal University focused on the translation activities of members of the Creation Society regarding Irish Renaissance drama, revealing the cultural significance and influence behind such translation efforts. Professor Zhang Jinghua from Hunan University of Science and Technology took "the translation of the term 'feudal'" as the core research object, exploring the close connection between terminology translation and knowledge construction. Professor Zhu Yong from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law shared the skills of legal translation as well as key points in foreign-related legal services. Professors Xie Yajun and Zhu Lihua from HUTB chaired the keynote speech session respectively.
During the two parallel sub-forums held in the afternoon, 28 postgraduates from various universities presented their research findings respectively. Professor Li Qingping from Central South University, Professor Li Zhiqi from Central South University of Forestry and Technology, and Professors Liu Xiaoyan and Wu Xiaojun from HUTB served as review experts. While affirming the research value of the presented achievements, they put forward constructive suggestions on literature combing, research focus refinement and academic norms, and encouraged the students to carry out research based on local practices.
This forum provided a high-level academic exchange platform for postgraduates majoring in foreign languages. Under the guidance of experts and through peer learning, it demonstrated the training direction of interdisciplinary talents in foreign language disciplines in the new era, and contributed wisdom and strength to supporting the construction of the country's international communication capacity.
