At the moment when the reporter interviewed them, they were sitting together, knocking on the door of the world of thought with the books in their hands, and sharing their gains after reading with each other.
The scene of enjoying reading time accompanied by scholarly friends can be seen everywhere, including the physical spaces such as many book bars of HUTB, as well as online platforms such as the official WeChat account of HUTB.
On May 25, HUTB launched a reading festival for faculty members and students, titled "Reading Books about the New Era to Facing the Future Together". At the launching ceremony, the leaders of HUTB presented books to young students and released arecommended book list of 36 books in total for the reading festival, including books on technological change of the times such as Big Data: A Revolution That Will Transform How We Live, Work, and Think, and the Blockchain Technology and Application Development, and the Historical Recordsand The Path of Beautywith humanistic implications, as well as the novel A Lifelong Journey, which has been adapted into a highly praised TV series and popular in the online broadcast platform.
"In addition to the reading sharing session for reading both paper books and audiobooks, I also have had the good fortune to watch several films such as “The Bravest”and “My Country,My Parents”at the classic film exhibition in the campus. Through these activities, I have gained a lot of invaluable things", said by a student surnamed Zhou, a sophomore from the School of Economy & Trade of HUTB.
There are a total of 9 campaigns in thisreading festival, including the offlinecampaigns like the reading sharing session of "Reading and Sharing All the Good Books", daily reading attendanceand book transmission campaign of "Sailing on the Sea of Books and Being a Model Youth of the Times", knowledge competition activity for faculty members and students in the reading festivalof" Keep Reading Tradition without Forgetting the Beginner's Mind ", classic film exhibition campaignof "Reading Good Books and Appreciating Movies", excellent reading experience selection activities of "Reading Classics", and the reading promotion campaign of "One School, One Book - Classics, Intensive Reading, Statecraft", etc. Some students read or extractedthe classic fragments and wonderful sentences from books such as Red Star Over China, Stories the Communist Party Should Know, and Border Townto nourish their hearts and enrich their humanistic quality. The university's official WeChat account opened the "Sound of Reading Aloud" online reading campaign, which meticulously produced audio programs for young students to read the original works of Walden and Heart Safety is Both Homing, etc., to drive students to gain new knowledge from reading good books. So far, eight sessions of this online reading campaign have been held.

The reading festival was jointly supported by all departments of HUTB. Facultymembers, students and CPC members actively participated in this event collectively or separately, online or offline, so as to create a strong atmosphere of "reading everywhere". A teacher who just participated in the teacher's reading salon of "Reading Classics, Making Friends with Famous Teachers" told the reporter,"During the reading festival, we also selected professional books such as Research on the Construction of Ecological Civilization System, Digital Quantum Leap: Strategies and Tactics of Digital Transformation, focusing on the hot topics of the digital economy and "peak carbon dioxide emissionsand carbon neutralitytargets", closely combining with professional disciplines, so as to let teachers becomedeeper and broader thinkers."
In recent years, in line with the purposeof "All For Students, For All-roundDevelopment ofStudents", HUTB has continued to strengthen the construction of "Cultural HUTB", actively followingthe new thinking and new habits of reading in the new era, and created a groupof reading campaignplatforms. The 11 distinctive bookbars integrating book reading, audio and video appreciation, reading corners, reading booths, learning seminars, electronic reading and other functions provide a "one-stop reading space" for the reading sharing session, classic film exhibition and other campaigns of this reading festival, allowing faculty members and students to enjoy reading.
Chen said that the universitywill vigorously carry out a series of reading season activities, continue to enrich the connotation of the construction of "Cultural HUTB", and will continue to stimulate the spiritual strength of all the faculty members and students to strive for a new journey, make the stronger atmosphere of loving reading, reading good booksand being a good readerin the campus, further consolidate and expand the achievements of the study and education of the CPC's history, and create a good atmosphere for the successful convocationof the20thNationalCongressoftheCommunistPartyofChina.
