Xiangjiang Laboratory is a major innovation platform designed to strengthen the computing power support of Hunan. It focuses on advanced computing and artificial intelligence fields and is the first provincial-level laboratory unveiled in Hunan. The innovative products unveiled in this release include the Smart Traffic Xuanyuan Model, domestical system performance optimization software with embedded operating, the Metaverse Digital Creative Product Matrix, digital twin simulation software for complex industrial processes, the third-generation Beidou navigation geodetic GNSS receiver, a multi-source heterogeneous data basis security sharing platform, and a new generation of intelligent laser welding robots.
Taking the Smart Traffic Xuanyuan Model as an example, this model aims to build a high-precision digital twin of traffic, and has achieved a breakthrough in the technology of high-fidelity 3D dynamic modeling based on large-scale models for the first time. It enables interactive construction of 3D traffic scenes including vehicles, pedestrians, road networks, buildings, weather, and lighting, providing strong support for the scientific governance of traffic.
“Over the past year, Xiangjiang Laboratory has been working closely with its co-construction unitsto fully advance the 26 major projects planned, and a number of important innovation achievements have been made.” Chen Xiaohong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, introduced that in the new year, Xiangjiang Laboratory will promote the collaborative integration of education, science and technology, and talent. It will focus on building a national center for advanced computing and artificial intelligence original theory research, a highland for key technological innovation, and a modern industry empowerment base. It is committed to forming a national strategic scientific and technological force with the integration of computing power, algorithm, computing basis and computing network.
On that day, Xiangjiang Laboratory also established the industrial alliance for the integration of computing power, algorithm, computing basis and computing network with 35 leading companies, including Huawei, JD.com, Baidu, and H3C. Together, they will build an information exchange, resource sharing, and cooperative interaction platform. This alliance aims to elevate the digital intelligence industry to a new level and promote the deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application, serving the high-quality development of the economy and society. At the event, plaques were awarded to five research institutes and one engineering technology research center jointly established by Xiangjiang Laboratory and its partner enterprises.
Tong Laisheng, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Hunan Province, expressed the hope that all member units of the industrial alliance would fully leverage their respective resource advantages. He emphasized the need to strengthen the demand-side driving effect of technology transfer, continuously enhance the positive interaction between scientific and industrial innovation, and accelerate the convergence of innovative elements in Hunan, the transformation of innovative outcomes in Hunan, and the eruption of innovation vitality in Hunan.
