They aim to achieve core competitiveness in tackling key technologies, providing essential technological support for realizing the beautiful blueprint of "Three Highlands, Four New Missions".
As the laboratory in our province’s four major laboratories focusing on advanced computing and artificial intelligence, Xiangjiang Laboratory has currently established a "Four-in-One" industry alliance for the integrated development of computing power, algorithms, data, and networks with 35 leading companies, including Huawei, JD, and Baidu. It has also signed strategic cooperation agreements with over 50 companies, such as Huawei, Inspur, and China Construction Fifth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd. The laboratory has launched a series of major projects in emerging and future fields such as next-generation artificial intelligence, the metaverse, biological intelligent manufacturing, and quantum technology. It has released seven innovative products in cutting-edge areas, including multimodal AI large models, an industrial operating system, and Beidou navigation.
"General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized the need to pay greater attention to the deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation, strengthen major scientific and technological breakthroughs, and enhance the technical support capability for industrial innovation and development. On Sunday, March 24, Shao Ye, a researcher at the Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, was still busy in the laboratory working on the breeding of rice varieties. Not far away, in the Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences Area of the Yuelu Mountain Laboratory Cluster, one of the four major laboratories in our province, construction was also being expedited to ensure the timely delivery of projects and the on-schedule move-in of research teams.
General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that Hunan must shoulder the heavy responsibility of safeguarding national food security, focusing on two key areas: seeds and farmland. It should accelerate the key technological breakthroughs in the seed industry and agricultural machinery. "Holding high the banner of revitalizing the national seed industry, we will focus on key areas such as third-generation hybrid rice, green high-quality rice, and saline-alkali tolerant hybrid rice. We will conduct a series of original research, continuously break through key technologies in hybrid rice, and strive to achieve new breakthroughs in the breeding of new varieties", said Shao. Furong Laboratory focuses on cutting-edge technologies in precision medicine, guided by national demands. It adheres to the principles of simultaneous construction, operation, and achievement generation. Currently, it has achieved a number of internationally and domestically leading breakthrough technological achievements in areas such as stem cell therapy for psoriasis and liver failure, and gene editing therapy for children with thalassemia.
