Recently, Analysis on Path of Digital Technology Promoting the Achievement of Carbon Neutrality Goal in China's Energy Industry by Chen Xiaohong, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory and CAE Academician, and Discussion on China's Energy Development Strategy under Carbon Neutrality Goal by the team led by Academician Liu He who settled in the laboratory, were both awarded the excellent papers in Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2021. It is reported that the Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences has selected 10 excellent papers of the year, including 2 papers by the academician team stationed in the laboratory.
In addition, Digital Economy Theoretical System and Research Prospect by the team led by Chen Xiaohong, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory and CAE Academician was rated as the excellent paper of Journal of Management World in 2022.
Analysis on Path of Digital Technology Promoting the Achievement of Carbon Neutrality Goal in China's Energy Industry (published in Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Issue 09, 2021) studies how to achieve the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality in energy industry by means of digital technology. First, this paper explains the important strategic role of digital technology in carbon neutrality. Second, the existing theoretical research and application progress of digital technology and carbon emission reduction are combed and analyzed to reveal the defects in the application of existing digital technology to carbon neutrality in energy industry. Finally, this paper puts forward the general idea of digital technology promoting the process of carbon neutrality in China, and the main paths for digital technologies such as big data, digital twinning, artificial intelligence and blockchain to help achieve the goal of carbon neutrality in energy industry of China.
Discussion on China's Energy Development Strategy under Carbon Neutrality Goal (published in Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Issue 09, 2021) makes an in-depth discussion on how to accelerate China's energy transformation and clarify the strategic path of energy transformation under the goal of carbon neutrality. The article points out that on the road to carbon neutrality, China should make continuous efforts in the fields of electricity, industry, construction, agriculture, etc., reduce carbon emissions, plan the best strategic path, and strive to achieve carbon emission reduction and economic development in parallel. First, this paper analyzes the trend of energy consumption and carbon emission in China, and forecasts the total and peak energy consumption in China in the future. On this basis, it puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions to promote the realization of carbon neutrality in energy industry of China.
Digital Economy Theoretical System and Research Prospect (published in Journal of Management World, Issue 02, 2022) focuses on the impact of digital technology change on the development of basic theories of related economics. By systematically combing the relevant literature at home and abroad, it first refines the important scientific issues in the development of digital economy theory. Taking this as a logical starting point, a theoretical system framework of digital economy is constructed based on the theoretical chain of "connotation characteristics - realistic performance - core theory - method system”. Second, the connotation and characteristics of digital economy in the theoretical system framework, the core theory of digital economy and the research method system of digital economy under technological change are explained one after another. Finally, the expansion of the theoretical system of digital economy and the future research direction are discussed.
After the publishing, above papers were widely quoted and highly praised by peer scholars, which promoted the attention to the low-carbon transformation and development of the energy industry empowered by digital economy and digital technology.
In recent years, the team led by Chen Xiaohong, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory and CAE Academician has been devoted to the research in the fields empowered by digital economy and digital technology, and has taken a series of landmark achievements with international influence. Many relevant policy suggestions and proposals of CPPCC have also been adopted by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the People's Bank of China and other departments and institutions. The award of this paper reflects the forward-looking vision and academic accumulation of the academician teams of Xiangjiang Laboratory in the high-quality development empowered by digital economy and digital technology.
