From April 8 to 10, the on-site finals of the 2023 Teaching Innovation Competition for Higher Education Institutions in Hunan Province were held. Three teaching teams from our university advanced to the finals and won first prizes with excellent results. They were the team led by Li Xiaobo from the School of Microelectronics and Physics, the team led by Zhu Yongjun from the School of Accounting, and the team led by Mo Jiaojiao from the School of Foreign Languages. The teaching team led by Jiang Lin from the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies won the third prize in the New Engineering category, and our university won the "Excellent Organization Award". The number of first prizes ranked third in the whole province.

The 2023 Teaching Innovation Competition for Higher Education Institutions in Hunan Province was hosted by the Department of Education of Hunan Province. The on-site finals were divided into six groups: New Engineering category, Advanced New Liberal Arts category, Intermediate and Below Liberal Arts category, New Agricultural and Medical category, Basic Course category, and Course Ideological and Political category. First and second prizes were awarded. Participating teachers presented their teaching design innovations in a 15-minute presentation, and expert judges had a 10-minute question-and-answer session based on the presentation. In this competition, a total of 189 teaching teams from 52 higher education institutions (including independent colleges) in the province were recommended for the semi-finals. After expert online evaluation, 78 teaching teams entered the finals.
Since the Teaching Innovation Competition was launched in December 2022, the CPC HUTB Committee has attached great importance to it, and the Academic Affairs Division and relevant secondary schools have carefully organized it. After the preliminary and finals of the schools, provincial semi-finals, and finals, the competition lasted for more than four months. Participating teachers devoted a lot of time and energy during the winter vacation and rest time, overcame numerous difficulties, and continuously polished and improved their competition works. The Academic Affairs Division formulated a detailed preparation plan, organized experts from inside and outside the province to build participating teams, and conducted multiple training sessions, guidance sessions, and polishing rounds for the teaching videos, innovation reports, and on-site presentations of the participating teachers. This laid a solid foundation for our university to achieve excellent results in the competition.
In recent years, the university has continuously strengthened the central position of undergraduate teaching, improved the teaching skills of teachers, and achieved good results. In the next stage, the university will continue to adhere to the principle of promoting teaching, learning, reform, and development through competitions, continuously stimulate the innovation vitality of teachers' teaching, strengthen their political and ideological teaching ability, promote the integration and development of information technology and education, and promote the university's education and teaching work to a new level.
