HUTB Holds Third Alumni Representative Conference

On the morning of April 16, the third alumni representative conference of HUTB was held at the Chufeng Lecture Hall in the Economic Management Complex. Chen Xiaohong,Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and CAE Academician, Huang Xin, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and President of HUTB, all the chief leaders at home, and Ouyang Biao, Director of Social Organization Management Bureau of the Department of Civil Affairs of Hunan Province, attended the conference. More than 600 alumni representatives and faculty-student representatives attended the conference. The conference was presided over by Gan Dejian, Vice President of HUTB.
Chen Xiaohong,Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and CAE Academician, presented awards to outstanding alumni, presented donation appreciation plaques, and delivered a speech.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong expressed in her speech that alumni are the best business card of the alma mater. The vast number of alumni of our university continue to write the legend of our alma mater with their own brilliance and add glory to the alma mater with their contributions. They have provided strong support and promotion for the high-quality development of various undertakings in the university. The alma mater serves as the most distinct label for alumni. The university continuously empowers the brand of "HUTB Alumni" and has achieved historic advancements in various aspects such as academic levels, campus appearance, faculty quality, scientific research capabilities, and social service capabilities.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong pointed out that alumni work is the yardstick for evaluating the level of education. Doing a good job in alumni work is an important aspect of promoting the university’s reform, enhancing the social influence and competitiveness of the university. The university will, under the guidance of higher-level departments such as the Department of Civil Affairs of Hunan Province, devise practical strategies, implement practical measures, and achieve practical results, in order to make alumni work more distinctive and effective. The first step is to improve the organization of alumni work. Continuously strengthening the construction and leadership of the alumni association to achieve regular and standardized alumni work is also a part of the first step. The second step is to establish a solid foundation for quality services. Providing alumni with enthusiastic and attentive services with love, patience, and a sense of responsibility, and sincerely providing various services to alumni, is also a part of the third step. The third step is to strengthen and ensure effective connections with alumni. Through positive interaction between alumni and the alma mater, the university aims to continually strengthen alumni relationships and alumni culture, promote mutual assistance among alumni, and contribute to the mutual development of alumni and the university's endeavors. The university invites all alumni to come back home frequently, stand together with the alma mater, overcome challenges, forge ahead, and embark on a new journey together to achieve new breakthroughs and accomplishments.
Huang Xin, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and President of HUTB, delivered a welcome speech, expressing the hope that the alumni association and various alumni chapters across the country would take this alumni representative conference as an opportunity to continue playing an active role in “strengthening alumni connections, integrating alumni resources, and mobilizing alumni strength”. He encouraged the alumni to contribute their ideas and efforts to the development of both the alumni cause and the university's endeavors.
Xiao Xiaoqin, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, announced the Decision of HUTB on Commending the First Outstanding Alumni and reported on the alumni donation status over the past three years. 12 alumni, namely Tan Xiancai, Li Ronghua, Liu Biao, Huang Xingyao, Fan Jianwen, Ning Songkai, Xiong Chao, Xu Chunmei, Xiao Jie, Chen Yong, Deng Zhengming, and Li Wei, were awarded the title of "First Outstanding Alumni of HUTB".
Xia Jichun, former Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and Executive Vice President of the Second Alumni Council, presented the Work Report of the Second Council, provided explanations on the revision of the Articles of Association of HUTB Alumni Association, and presented the proposed list of members for the Third Council. The conference reviewed and approved the Work Report of the Second Council, the draft revision of the Articles of Association of HUTB Alumni Association, and the list of members for the Third Council.
Vice President Gan Dejian, as the President of the Third Alumni Council, delivered a speech, stating that our university's alumni association has always focused on the mission of "uniting alumni resources and serving the development of the alma mater". He emphasized that the association has successfully built a platform for communication and achieved significant results. The new council is committed to taking on responsibilities and striving to make greater contributions to the development of the university's endeavors.
Alumni representative Tan Xiancai delivered a speech, expressing respect and gratitude to the past leaders and faculty members who have worked tirelessly for the construction and development of the alma mater. He expressed that in recent years, the university has achieved a historic leap in academic levels, significantly enhanced its social service capabilities, and every alumni feels immensely proud. He encouraged the current students to cherish their time, be grateful to the alma mater, serve their country, and continuously bring honor and glory to HUTB.
Ouyang Biao, Director of the Social Organization Management Bureau of the Department of Civil Affairs of Hunan Province, delivered a speech. He warmly congratulated the successful convening of this conference, highly praised the alumni work of our university, and expressed three hopes for the future work: First, to strengthen Party building leadership; Second, to continue adhering to legal management of the association; Third, to further enhance the role of the alumni association.
During the conference, faculty and student representatives performed a medley of songs, including You at the Same Table, Dear Traveler, and Cloud of Hometown, evoking a nostalgic reminiscence of their youth and eliciting strong emotional resonance among the attendees.
Finally, the chief leaders, along with the alumni and students present, sang together the songs Tomorrow Will Be Better and Song of Hunan University of Technology and Business, sincerely expressing their wishes and blessings for a brighter future for the university.
