HUTB Holds 2023 Graduation Ceremony and Degree Award Ceremony with Great Solemnity

With hearts connected to HUTB, we strive towards the future. On the morning of June 15, the university held the 2023 Graduation Ceremony and Degree Award Ceremony at the sports field in the main campus. The event was attended by all university leaders, including Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, CAE Academician, and Chair of the HUTB Degree Evaluation Committee; Huang Xin, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and President; Wang Minggao, Director of the HUTB Academic Committee; Xiao Xiaoqin, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, and others.
Additionally, Li Ming, President of the Jiangsu Alumni Association and Director and President of Jiangsu Golden Vision Legend Technology Co., Ltd., was invited to participate. All members of the HUTB Degree Evaluation Committee, heads of relevant functional departments, Leaders of all secondary schools, and graduation class instructors also attended the ceremony. All the 2023 graduates, student parent representatives, and alumni, as well as faculty and staff, attended the ceremony to witness the glory and joy of the Class of 2023. The ceremony was presided over by Vice President Gan Dejian.
Before the ceremony officially began, students from the School of Music presented a lively and youthful performance, brimming with enthusiasm and joy.
The ceremony officially commenced with a flag-raising ceremony. The spirited singing filled the air as the bright five-starred red flag was raised into the sky.
Vice President Liu Guoquan announced the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Approving Graduation of 482 Graduate Students including Yang Simin and the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Granting Master Degrees to 471 Students including Yang Simin.
Vice President Zhang Ling announced the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Approving Graduation of 4434 Students including He Yixuan, the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Granting Bachelor Degrees to 4369 Students including He Yixuan, the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Approving Graduation of 18 Students including RAJPUT FAHAD TUFAIL (Chinese Name: Wang Qiang), and the Decision of Hunan University of Technology and Business on Granting Bachelor Degrees to 18 Students including RAJPUT FAHAD TUFAIL (Chinese Name: Wang Qiang).
Huang Xin, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and President, read the notification of provincial outstanding graduates.
Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, CAE Academician, and Chair of the HUTB Degree Evaluation Committee, delivered an enthusiastic speech titled "Honoring, Persevering, Integrating, and Accommodating: Toward the Future." "Through countless challenges, today we embark on a new journey. Today, in this grand graduation ceremony, we send our warmest blessings to the 5,193 graduates of the class of 2023 from HUTB. May you all plant exceptionally large seeds and bloom into something truly special!"
Secretary Chen Xiaohong recounted the students' hard work and achievements during their four years in the university, offering high praise for their outstanding performance. She commended the students for their unwavering faith, determination, pursuit of excellence, and qualities of self-improvement, diligence, and compassion. She expressed that due to the students' continuity and inheritance, the spirit of the university will continue to thrive. Thanks to everyone's efforts, HUTB has become a leading institution in the construction of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, one of the four major laboratories in Hunan Province, and is continually advancing toward becoming a national strategic scientific and technological force. Because of everyone's participation and contributions, the university has embarked on a new journey to build a distinctive and innovative first-class business university.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong expressed four expectations for all the 2023 graduates: Firstly, always be glorious. She encouraged the graduates to carry a sense of pride and honor as they move forward. By working together with their homeland and people, striving towards shared goals and dreams, their lives can become more brilliant and filled with glory. Secondly, continuously strive toward the future. Secretary Chen encouraged the graduates to approach life with the spirit of a warrior, dedicating themselves to their chosen fields, being passionate about their work, and striving for excellence. They should give their best effort and aim for the top, using hard work to support their dreams and relying on their efforts to create a bright future. Thirdly, strive for integration. Graduates should commit themselves to embracing diversity and moving forward together into the future. They should enhance their judgment, critical thinking, and innovation through integration, allowing knowledge to transform their destinies. By blending various elements, they can make life more colorful and engaging, while also carrying forward the continuous historical legacy of the nation. Fourthly, aim to be tolerant. Graduates should strive to be resilient and open-minded as they move towards the future. They should practice adaptability, face challenges with a smile, and constantly seek a rich intellectual life, a clear soul, and inner strength. They should always cherish life, run with hope, and live in the way they desire.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong encouraged the graduates: The call to move forward has already sounded, and the future is calling you. Starting from HUTB, march forward like a warrior with a guiding light, embark on an expedition filled with honor and dreams. In the limited time of life and boundless efforts, find your own life coordinates and let the world see your brilliance! Believe that what HUTB produces is bound to be of high quality! I wish you all a sunny and resolute journey, enduring through wind and rain, and a passionate and eternal future.
Ren Jian, the leader of a national first-class undergraduate major, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies and Executive Dean of the School of Digital Media and Humanities, spoke as a representative of the faculty. He expressed his hope that all graduates will uphold their ideals, face challenges with confidence, maintain a spirit of innovation and progress, and always be sincere and grateful.
President Li Ming, as a representative alumnus, delivered a speech. He shared his life experiences and entrepreneurial insights in four parts: "Alma Mater," "Innovation," "Gratitude," and "Persistence." He encouraged all graduates to work together, enhance the reputation of HUTB, and move forward hand in hand, showing gratitude to their alma mater and contributing to society, living up to this great era.
Graduate student Yan Yue from the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, undergraduate student Wu Jiaqi from the School of Intelligent Engineering and Manufacturing, undergraduate student Xu Jiaqi from the School of Computer Science (Academic Excellence Class), and undergraduate student Zhao Cong from the School of Finance delivered speeches as student representatives. They expressed their commitment as young students of the new era to shoulder the responsibilities of this new time. They aspire to be the pioneers of this new era, carrying the hopes of their alma mater, the teachings of their teachers, and the encouragement of their friends. With the strength of youth, they are ready to embrace the challenges of this age.
Subsequently, the most ceremonial moment arrived as all university leaders, members of CPC HUTB Committee, and professors individually presented degree certificates to the 2023 graduates. Handshakes, adjusting of the academic cap tassels, awarding of certificates, and taking commemorative photos – each moment was a recognition and affirmation of the students, carrying the teachers' heartfelt wishes and expectations.
Holding their weighty degree and graduation certificates, the 2023 graduates infused their feelings of gratitude towards the alma mater and mentors into their solemn oath. The entire graduating class solemnly pledged: To make excellence, diligence, and civility a habit, and to achieve the best results of contemporary youth on the track of life during their youth!
The entire faculty and students sang songs like My Old Classmate, Dear Traveler, As Wished, Meet Again In Twenty Years, and Goodbye. Each heartfelt and moving song filled the air and garnered rounds of applause and cheers. Finally, the graduation ceremony concluded with the entire assembly singing the Song of Hunan University of Technology and Business in perfect harmony.
After the ceremony, Yu, a master's graduate from the School of Computer Science, expressed, "On this special day, I am deeply moved by everything the university has done for us. The warm and kind-hearted teachers, like-minded friends... All of this makes it hard for me to say goodbye." Liu, a undergraduate graduate from the School of Law & Public Administration, stated, "I am very thankful to our alma mater for providing us with excellent conditions for our studies, work, and life. I am also grateful for the care and love our teachers have given us. I wish our university continued prosperity in its endeavors." Ma Yuanhang, a Nigerian international student, expressed, "A thousand words are condensed into one sentence: Thank you! My alma mater – Hunan University of Technology and Business."
All the graduates of the Class of 2023 will carry the earnest expectations of their alma mater and embark on a new journey. They will nurture a deep sense of patriotism, integrate the character of innovation and progress into their blood, engage in practical entrepreneurship, and chase their dreams.
