HUTB Holds Launch Ceremony for 2023 Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program” Social Practice Activities for College Student Volunteers

In the hot month of July, youth is vibrant. On the morning of July 5, the launch ceremony for the 2023 Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program” Social Practice Activities for College Student Volunteers was held in the lecture hall of the Economic Management Complex. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and CAE Academician, along with Xiao Xiaoqin, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, and Vice President Gan Dejian attended the event. Leaders of all secondary schools and relevant functional departments, as well as representatives of teachers and students from various social practice teams, also participated in the event.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong delivered a mobilization speech. On behalf of the CPC HUTB Committee, she extended sincere greetings to the students and teachers who dare to think, dare to act, and have achieved outstanding results. She stated that the young students of HUTB actively respond to the call of the times, closely follow the national progress, actively engage in rural revitalization, and lead in volunteer service. Their integration of knowledge and action, pursuit of excellence, and dedication are worthy of praise. She encouraged everyone to make excellence, diligence, and civility a habit, and to grow into high-quality individuals with a global perspective, patriotic sentiments, professional competence, and a compassionate heart.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong expressed three hopes for all the students and teachers participating in the 2023 Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program” Social Practice Activities: Firstly, stay committed to the ideal of contributing to the country during your youth and address the "questions of the times" in your social practice. Remember the instructions from General Secretary Xi Jinping and, in the crucible of the 2023 Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program” Social Practice Activities, strengthen your ideals and beliefs, take firm and resolute steps, and strive to grow into a new generation of individuals who are capable of shouldering the great responsibility of national rejuvenation. Secondly, maintain a youthful attitude of striving courageously and hone your skills in grassroots service. Keep the spirit of "daring to teach the sun and the moon to change the sky" alive, demonstrate a sense of mission in the "grand ideological and political class" of social practice, and comprehensively enhance your own capabilities and qualities through grassroots service. Thirdly, show your spirited and upward youthfulness, and bloom as the "Flowers of Hunan University of Technology and Business" in the garden of the times. Make sure that your activities yield results, have significance, and leave an impact. Use the power of practice to play the strong tune of HUTB, burnish the university's reputation, and showcase the excellence of HUTB students. She also emphasized the importance of firmly establishing the idea of "safety first" among the teachers and students. They should pay attention to food safety, property safety, traffic safety, and personal safety to ensure that they engage in social practice activities with a healthy physique, full spirit, and excellent condition.
During the ceremony, the host provided an overview of the basic details of the university's 2023 Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program” Social Practice Activities. Tang Fanqi, a student from the School of Public Administration and Human Geography, majoring in administrative management in Class 2101, spoke as a student representative. He expressed his commitment to measure the vast land of China with his footsteps, discover the spirit of China with his eyes, listen to the voices of the people with his ears, and resonate with the pulse of the times with his heart. He pledged to complete all practical tasks with high quality, aiming to improve himself and serve society. Li Xiaokang, a student from Class 2205 majoring in big data management and application in the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, led all the students in a solemn oath. They expressed their determination to serve the State’s interests with resounding voices, showcasing their positive and upward spirit.
Following this, Secretary Chen Xiaohong presented a flag to the student representatives of the social practice teams. She extended her best wishes for the successful completion of the 2023 Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program” Social Practice Activities and officially announced the start of HUTB's 2023 Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program” Social Practice Activities for College Student Volunteers. The entire assembly of teachers and students sang the “Song of Hunan University of Technology and Business” together, waving colorful flags and sounding the bugle for their mission.
After the ceremony, Secretary Chen Xiaohong visited and extended her regards to the teams that were about to embark on their practical assignments. She encouraged everyone to go deep into the grassroots, to the forefront, and to shine with the will, passion, and dedication of youth. She urged them to contribute their youthful energy in serving society.
This summer, the university has a total of 50 university-level social practice projects and 137 school-level social practice projects as part of the 2023 Summer “Sanxiaxiang Program” Social Practice Activities. Seven project teams have been established to carry out the "Furong Student · Rural Revitalization" public welfare program. In addition, 40 students are participating in the Yuelu District College Student Internship "Setting Sail Plan." In total, there are 194 practice teams and over 2,000 faculty and students preparing for their assignments, with more than 10,000 students participating in the nationwide university student "Returning to Hometown" social practice activities.
