Shen Xiaoming, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Secretary Conducts Research Visit to Xiangjiang Laboratory

On July 20, Shen Xiaoming, Secretary of CPC Hunan Provincial Committee conducted a special research visit to Xiangjiang Laboratory, focusing on the establishment of a core competitive technology innovation hub. He emphasized the importance of thoroughly studying and implementing the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, as well as the important speeches and directives from General Secretary Xi Jinping regarding Hunan's work. He stressed the need to focus on the vision of "Three Highlands, Four New Missions," vigorously implement the innovation-driven development strategy, enhance the quality and effectiveness of high-level science and technology innovation platforms, continually promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and help drive high-quality development in Hunan with high-level self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology.
Provincial leaders Wu Guiying, Xie Weijiang, and Qin Guowen, as well as hen Xiaohong, CAE Academician, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, participated in the research.
Secretary Shen Xiaoming was briefed on the planning and construction of Xiangjiang Laboratory and experimental platforms. Academician Chen Xiaohong introduced the main research content and directions of Xiangjiang Laboratory's technological innovation. Xiangjiang Laboratory focuses on research related to core elements of artificial intelligence and advanced computing, including "Four Computing Aspects." It aims to contribute to the realization of the "Three Highlands, Four New Missions" blueprint and support Changsha in becoming a global research and development center city. Xiangjiang Laboratory has established a high-level talent team led by academicians, combining both full-time and part-time members. It is dedicated to creating a national strategic scientific and technological force and an innovation hub of international excellence in the "Four-Computing Integration” field in China.
Subsequently, Secretary Shen Xiaoming conducted an on-site inspection of the Intelligent Manufacturing Laboratory, Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Smart Society and Smart Healthcare Laboratory, and Brain-inspired Intelligence Laboratory. He expressed his deep impression of the preliminary achievements of Xiangjiang Laboratory's construction, emphasizing the importance of resource integration and efforts to enhance the scientific and technological innovation platform's capabilities. He also stressed the need to provide scientific services to a wider range of users.
Secretary Shen Xiaoming also conducted research on the construction of other related units' science and technology innovation platforms. During the research, Secretary Shen Xiaoming emphasized the need to deeply understand that accelerating the achievement of high-level self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology is the only way to promote high-quality development. He stressed the importance of aligning national needs with Hunan's capabilities, fully leveraging the guiding role of flagship projects, and expediting the development of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone, Xiangjiang Science City, four provincial-level major laboratories and "Four Major Scientific Facilities," as well as the construction of Changsha as a global R&D center city. This will help Hunan establish a core-competitive science and technology innovation hub. Efforts should be made to promote the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements and facilitate the organic integration of the innovation chain, industry chain, capital chain, and talent chain. Furthermore, it is crucial to deepen reforms in the science and technology system, continuously increase efforts to train and attract scientific and technological talents, refine the talent evaluation system and supportive policies, and actively create a favorable innovation ecosystem.
