Recently, the Ministry of Education announced its decision to approve the winning projects of the National Teaching Achievement Awards for 2022. The project titled Exploration and Practice of ‘New Engineering Courses + New Business Courses' Leading the Supply-Side Reform of Talent Cultivation for Digital Intelligence Management jointly submitted by the university, Shanghai International Studies University, and Southwestern University of Finance and Economics has been awarded the Second Prize in National Teaching Achievement Award.

Achievement overview

The project adheres to the integration concept of "New Engineering Courses + New Business Courses," establishing a new system, igniting new vitality, and creating new mechanisms. It promotes reforms in educational supply-side, nurturing management talents with a sense of homeland and a global perspective, equipped with systematic thinking and digital intelligence skills. It has developed a talent cultivation model based on "Three Integrations and Three Promotions," which includes:

Firstly, it uses interdisciplinary integration as the driving force to build a new system called "Four-Dimensional Intelligence" and promote structural optimization. It arranges disciplines such as "Digital Economy and Smart Management," establishes the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, introduces new majors like digital intelligence accounting, adds digital intelligence courses, and integrates the concept of "New Engineering Courses + New Business Courses" throughout the entire process of disciplinary adjustments, curriculum system reconstruction, classroom teaching reform, and practical skills development.

Secondly, it focuses on the integration of science and education to stimulate the new dynamic of "teachers and students progressing together" and promote transformation and development. It establishes high-level research and teaching platforms such as the first National Center for Basic Science in the central region and one of Hunan's four major laboratories (i.e. Xiangjiang Laboratory). It conducts organized scientific research to promote teaching. It guides students to "join projects early, enter laboratories early, and join teams early" to ignite the driving force for student innovation and creativity.

Thirdly, it emphasizes industry-education integration as the focus to establish a new mechanism of "diverse collaboration" and promote resource assurance. It constructs the "Enlightenment Alliance," creating a large platform for industry-education integration, improving the "dual-path" course resource sharing and the "multi-channel" faculty improvement mechanism. It collaborates with leading companies such as Huawei, Baidu, and JD.com, building a "practical education community" and achieving deep integration between industry and education.

The university will take this award as an opportunity to deeply implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress. It will prioritize moral education and actively align with the major strategic needs of national and regional development. Furthermore, it will continue to promote the interdisciplinary development of "New engineering courses + new business courses + new liberal arts courses" with science. The university will focus on nurturing talent with digital intelligence, fostering students' digital economic thinking, enhancing their digital intelligence skills, and striving to become a leading institution for digital intelligence talent.
