Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and Academician, Attends ICIE 2023 and Delivers Keynote Speech

From August 12 to 13, 2023 Jinlin University International Conference on Innovation & Entrepreneurship (ICIE 2023) was held in Changchun, Jilin. This conference was jointly initiated and organized by the School of Business and Management of Jilin University and the Research Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Jilin University. Professor Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and CAE Academician, attended the conference as the Chinese chairperson and delivered the keynote speech.
The conference had the theme of "Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Digital Economy Era." Renowned scholars from various domestic and international institutions such as Rutgers University and the University of Minnesota in the United States, Brock University in Canada, Leuphana University in Germany, Hong Kong Baptist University, and domestic universities like Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, and Nankai University attended the conference. The aim of the conference was to provide a platform for scholars in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship to exchange ideas and promote the development of innovation and entrepreneurship in China, based on the current research status in the field.
Academician Chen Xiaohong delivered a comprehensive presentation with the theme "Empowering Industrial Innovation and Development with Digital Intelligence Technologies." She discussed three key aspects in her presentation: the cutting-edge trends of digital intelligence technologies in the digital economy, the role of digital intelligence technologies in empowering industrial innovation and development, and innovative applications in typical fields by her team.
Academician Chen Xiaohong emphasized in her presentation that digital intelligence technologies such as artificial intelligence, metaverse, digital twins, and blockchain serve as enabling technologies, playing a crucial role in driving industrial innovation and development, leading to profound transformations in industry innovation. Faced with the historical juncture of leveraging digital intelligence technologies to empower industrial transformation and upgrading, it is essential to seize the opportunities brought by the new applications of next-generation technologies. This entails taking advantage of opportunities and making detailed and focused efforts in the processes of industrial digitization and digital industrialization, thereby unlocking the amplifying and magnifying effects of the digital economy on industrial innovation and upgrading. Academician Chen Xiaohong shared practical experiences from high-level innovation platforms like the Xiangjiang Laboratory in supporting industrial innovation and development. She also elaborated on how to innovate in digital intelligence technologies in typical areas such as energy and environment, intelligent manufacturing, smart societies, and the metaverse digital industry. Additionally, she discussed the social contributions resulting from these innovations.
Finally, Academician Chen Xiaohong emphasized that in the face of the unprecedented rapid development, wide-reaching impact, and profound influence of the digital economy, we should consider the development of the digital economy as a strategic choice for seizing new opportunities in the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation. We should fully utilize digital intelligence technologies to drive industrial innovation and development, comprehensively implement the mission task of high-level self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology as proposed in the 20th CPC National Congress report. By strengthening innovation-driven development and digital intelligence empowerment, promoting digital industrialization and industrial digitalization, constructing a modern industrial system, and seizing future development high grounds, we can demonstrate new achievements, new capabilities, and new responsibilities in building a new development paradigm and forging new competitive advantages.
