3rd National Forum for Deans and Department Heads of Tourism Colleges in Finance and Economics Undergraduate Institutions Held at HUTB

On November 25 to 26, the 3rd National Forum for Deans and Department Heads of Tourism Colleges in Finance and Economics Undergraduate Institutions, hosted by the Alliance for Cooperation and Development of Tourism Colleges from National Finance and Economics Undergraduate Institutions and organized by the School of Public Administration and Human Geography at HUTB, was held at HUTB. The forum was attended by leaders from the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, deans and department heads of tourism colleges from several national finance and economics universities and some provincial tourism colleges, as well as responsible persons from several cultural and tourism industry enterprises in the province. They had in-depth discussions on topics such as discipline construction, specialty construction, talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, and rural tourism development. Professor Huang Xin, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee and President, delivered a speech, and Comrade Xiao Ziyu, Second-level Inspector of the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, gave a speech. The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB.

President Huang Xin introduced the historical evolution, development, educational characteristics of HUTB, as well as the main practices of the integrated development model of industry-education integration in tourism management in his speech. He expressed hope that the School of Public Administration and Human Geography, as one of the initiating units of the forum, could work together with the Alliance for Cooperation and Development of Tourism Colleges from National Finance and Economics Undergraduate Institutions to contribute to the high-quality development of tourism discipline in the new era.

Inspector Xiao Ziyu pointed out in his speech that the report of the 20th CPC National Congress has placed great emphasis on cultural construction and made important deployments for cultural and tourism work, fully reflecting the high regard given by the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core to cultural construction and tourism development. He hoped that everyone could take this forum as an opportunity to deepen exchanges, learn from each other, continuously improve the quality of talent cultivation in the cultural and tourism industry, and jointly promote the high-quality development of the tourism industry.

Professor Ma Yong, Deputy Director of the Teaching Steering Committee for Tourism Management Majors in Universities under the Ministry of Education, and Director of the National Virtual Teaching and Research Office for Tourism Management, elaborated on the current status and prospects of tourism management majors from the perspective of national strategy. He emphasized the importance of collaborative development among universities and awarded HUTB as one of the "TOP100 Member Universities of the National Virtual Teaching and Research Office for Tourism Management" under the Ministry of Education.

The attending experts and scholars gave keynote speeches and discussed topics such as "Talent Cultivation Model in Tourism Management", "Development Path of Tourism Management in the Digital Age", and "Integration and Reform of Industry-Education-Research System in Tourism Management". Professor Deng Aimin analyzed the goals, paths, and measures of the construction of first-class majors in cultural and tourism management. Professor Jiang Hong discussed the ideas, models, and practices of building a community of industry-education integration. Professor Zhang Heqing proposed new directions for talent cultivation programs and curriculum reform in tourism management. Professor Yun Jiang put forward a new orientation for the cultivation of tourism talents from skill-based to strategic-based. Professor Zhou Cheng shared the experience of teaching and training postgraduates in tourism management at Shanxi University of Finance and Economics. Professor Liu Jun interpreted the path of Chinese-style modernization in the construction of first-class majors in tourism management. Professor Han Jun demonstrated the collaborative development model of the university-government-enterprise community in tourism management. Professor Hu Haisheng put forward the requirements and practices of digital literacy for tourism talents. Professor Su Lujun shared the methods and paths for guiding postgraduates to publish high-level papers. Professor Yang Songbai expounded on the integration strategy of cultivating new business talents in tourism management with local economic development. Professor Guan Jingjing reflected on the digital teaching of undergraduate education in tourism management. Professor Wang Meixia explored the innovative and applied talent cultivation model in tourism management.

He Tianxiang, Executive Dean of the School of Public Administration and Human Geography, delivered a report on the theme "A New Exploration of the Teaching and Research Cooperation Platform in the Digital Era" at the conference and delivered the closing speech. He expressed the hope that everyone would strengthen communication and connections, share resources and platforms, collaborate on projects and achievements, jointly promote the high-quality development of tourism disciplinary specialties and the integrated development of cultural and tourism industries, and make greater contributions to talent cultivation, tourism industry development, and social progress.
