CAE Academician Sun Yongfu Conducts Research Visit to Xiangjiang Laboratory

On the morning of April 28, Sun Yongfu, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and former Executive Vice Minister and Deputy Secretary of the Leading CPC Group of the Ministry of Railways, visited the Xiangjiang Laboratory for research. Liu Guoquan, Executive Deputy Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, Member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, and Yang Liangqi, Member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, accompanied the research visit.

At the research achievement exhibition hall and the laboratory for the integration of culture and technology innovation at the Xiangjiang Laboratory, Academician Sun Yongfu received an overview of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, watched promotional videos showcasing its innovation achievements, visited the exhibition of seven innovative products released to the public, as well as related latest application achievements. He also reviewed the theoretical works and achievement compilations of the team led by Academician Chen Xiaohong, gaining an understanding of the research progress in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) large models, computing chips and advanced computing, new generation AI, and computational network brain. Academician Sun Yongfu visited the "Metaverse and Future Creation" Metaverse-themed exhibition at the Xiangjiang Academy, the Chufeng Academy, the Sports Activity Center, and the Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Creation Park. He gained an understanding of the university's cultivation model for top innovative talents and cross-disciplinary talents, as well as the educational concept of integrated development of culture and technology and the modern campus construction concept.

Academician Sun Yongfu highly praised the construction and development achievements of the Xiangjiang Laboratory and HUTB in recent years. He expressed his hope that under the leadership of Academician Chen Xiaohong, the Xiangjiang Laboratory and HUTB would fully leverage their strengths to continue focusing on high-level self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology and the cultivation of high-quality innovative talents. He also encouraged them to strive to make new and greater contributions to the high-quality development of the economy and society. Academician Sun Yongfu also provided guiding suggestions on aspects such as the transformation of scientific research achievements, data security governance, and the cultivation of top innovative talents.
