HUTB Achieves Excellent Results in Selection Competition of Hunan Province Division of 4th National Teaching Innovation Contest for College Teachers

From April 28 to 29, the on-site finals of the Hunan Province selection competition for the 4th National Teaching Innovation Contest for College Teachers, organized by the Department of Education of Hunan Province, successfully concluded. Our university was honored with 3 first prizes and 5 second prizes. The teams from our university, including the team led by Li Xiaobo from the School of Microelectronics and Physics, the team led by He Ziheng from the School of Marxism Studies, and the team led by Mo Jiaojiao from the School of Foreign Languages, were awarded first prizes. Additionally, teams led by Jiang Lin from the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, Hu Lei from the School of Finance, Zhang Dan from the School of Business Administration, Chen Liping from the School of Marxism Studies, and Liu Chunhua from the School of Art & Design were awarded second prizes.

In this competition, a total of 52 ordinary colleges and universities in the province (including independent colleges) recommended 268 teacher teams to participate in the semi-finals. After expert network reviews, 108 teacher teams advanced to the finals. The number of teacher teams from our university that entered the on-site finals and the number of awards received both ranked first in the province, earning us the "Excellent Organization Award".

The on-site finals were divided into eight categories: New Engineering Senior Group, New Engineering Intermediate and Junior Group, New Liberal Arts Group 1, New Liberal Arts Group 2, New Medical Group, New Agricultural Group, Basic Course Group, and Ideological and Political Course Group. First and second prizes were awarded in each category. Participating teachers presented their teaching innovation achievements for 15 minutes, followed by a 10-minute live questioning session by expert judges based on the innovation achievements.

In recent years, the university has been implementing the fundamental task of fostering morality and cultivating talents, continuously strengthening the central position of undergraduate teaching, enhancing the teaching proficiency of faculty members, and adhering to the concept of integrating "New engineering courses + new business courses + new liberal arts courses" with the development of science. By empowering teaching through "Artificial Intelligence+" and promoting interdisciplinary communication and collaboration through teaching competitions, the university aims to break down barriers between disciplines and improve the quality of talent cultivation.

Since the launch of the teaching innovation competition in December 2023, the CPC HUTB Committee has attached great importance to it, and the Academic Affairs Division and relevant secondary schools have organized it carefully. After the school-level preliminary and final rounds, provincial semi-finals, and finals, a total of more than four months have elapsed. Participating teachers have invested a lot of time and effort in continuously refining and perfecting their competition works. The Academic Affairs Division has formulated detailed preparation plans, organized careful guidance from experts inside and outside the province, and conducted multiple training sessions to refine the teaching videos, innovation reports, and on-site presentations of the participating teachers.

In the next stage, the university will continue to adhere to the principles of promoting teaching through competitions, promoting learning through competitions, using competitions to drive improvements, and using competitions to promote development. This will facilitate the innovation of teaching methods and the updating of teaching content, enhance teachers' teaching abilities, advance the deep integration of digital technology with education, and promote a steady improvement in the quality of undergraduate education and teaching at the university.
